…………..MORE NEW MUSIC from your friends @ www.drunkonmusic.co.uk……..

Today is a day for a protest song.

September 16th sees the release of a stunning new single from Sheffield band THE CLEAR.

With an air of 1960s folk and transcendental psychedelia, the Sheffield trio of talented musicians have already received critical acclaim and widespread UK Radio airplay (BBC 6 , RADIO 2) for their debut album PATCHWORK, released in March of 2016.

New single ‘MARIA BROWNE’ is a seriously good folk song. A song that delves into the subject matter of the IRAQ WAR, the act of war itself, and the individual affects it has on families and war widows, alike.  A song that may well resonate largely in 2016 (we don’t have enough protest songs for the masses), under current political climates. THE CLEAR divulge and display a catalogue of influences (Mamas and Papas, The Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach), to deliver intelligent & intellectual music that harks back to ‘tin pan alley’ song-writing with real lyrical brevity, grandiose orchestral scores and layered production.

MARIA BROWNE is a standard example of THE CLEAR and their high-end back catalogue of intelligent musical musings. Listen HERE
