‘Sunlight’ from Sheffield band – The Clear
#DrunkOnMusic – The Clear
With summer in full flow and to celebrate the release of their debut album Patchwork on clear vinyl, Sheffield trio the clear re-release their first single Sunlight .No strangers to the new music pages of #DrunkOnMusic and following the success of previous singles Maria Browne, America, Yesterday Morning & The Planets, Sheffield trio the clear release Sunlight upon the world.
Inspired by the Californian sun drenched sounds of the 60s & 70s era, Sunlight coincides with the vinyl release of their album Patchwork. It is a pop record that remains synonymous with the sounds of The Clear. An intelligently crafted and mature song-writing style, Sunlight harks back to the golden era of American and British music, but remaining modern in studio sound and instrumentation.
The song itself is warm in sound, heartfelt and full of optimism, maybe as a metaphor?. Its a sunlight that certainly shines bright.
The song features a selection of Sheffield musicians, including Richard Hawley producer & bassist Colin Elliot with the Longpigs’ Andy Cooke on drums. Its arrangement, with lilting piano and soft acoustics, takes inspiration from West Coast bands like The Mamas & The Papas and similar.
